This is the old shearing shed at Jarlmadangah, Mt Anderson east of Derby.

Took this about six months ago on one of the tours that we take out to that part of the country

Riot Police In Broome!!

It was a sad day today as 80 riot police moved in on protesters trying to stop Woodside from clearing land for test drilling without a permit, making this an illegal action.

This blockade has kept Woodside at bay for 4 weeks and has had the support from Broome residents both physically and with many donations of food, money, time and effort.

Mr Barnetts plan for the future of the Kimberley, is, once this gas processing plant is in place then the whole of the Kimberley will be opened up for the resources that she has kept for so long. The amount of mining that would be done throughout the kimberley would destroy this amazing pristine wilderness. For those who know her beauty it would be transformed, you would battle with huge road trains on our highways, 4wd workers vehicles with flashing lights and reverse alarms. You only have to go to Karratha for that wonderful experience. There will be a rail link between Wyndam and Broome, the natural water supply would diminish, as industry has a huge thirst and they would probably try to dam the Fitzroy river again, like they tried to once before.

All this for a greedy few.

The gas would be going off shore to China, the worlds most unethical environmentalist around, our pathetic attempt at reducing our carbon emissions to save face and this planet, pales into significance with what we will be delivering to the Chinese as LNG. 20% of Australia’s emissions will come from this one plant, 30ks as the crow fly’s from Broome. I cant imagine sitting on Cable Beach watching the sunset, then looking North and seeing the glow from the worlds second largest gas hub!!! ……… Here are a few pics of todays events for NADIOC week, celebrating the first Australians. This blogging thing is just too hard! I’m not cut out for this 21st century techno stuff, I know its easy, it’s just remembering to do it or find the time .

Anyway i will endeavor to try to keep it up to date -ish.

Had some pretty good tours through the kimberley, even though it was after a record breaking wet and most of the gorges were shut. We put plan B into action and it was good to get out to places that i havnt been to for ages.

This image was at Purnululu, Picaninny creek. What an awesome place to spend some time, you feel as though you are really in the beating heart of the Kimberley, very spiritual.

I like this image it was so different to my surroundings, with towering rock beehives that have been eroded over millions of years, to this little group of rocks left behind by the massive wet season. They must of been

dragged from so far away by wild currents, yet have been so delicately placed.

Down in Perth and have dragged the hot weather with us. Stopped off at Coral Bay on the way down, it rained then got 38 and hot. Carnavon was hot and between floods Perth was hot but dry, Margret River 37 and hot, so you can see that we havnt really escaped the heat at all.
Now that we are looking at going back to Broome we have to negotiate two cyclones closed roads due to flooding and HOT. There is no justice.

Another beautiful evening at cable beach, a fitting farewell before a rad trip of the west coast to catch up with some photography friends in perth, and the relies and the kids etc. so will post a few images on the road.

Finally a wet season shot that i’m sort of happy with. This storm came in really quick , within 5 minutes it hit the town. The wet season is well and truly here. You missed this one Flemming!!

This is just an amazing place it is so tranquil. It is just up the road from Broome and on a busy day you can it with couple of people. Usually you can have this place to yourself, pure bliss.

Just love flying into Broome,the colurs and contrast are just stunning. As soon as you hit the blues and aqua’s of Roebuck Bay it just puts a smile on my face.

Here is an unremarkable bit of landscape,as you have probably heard this amazing place is under threat by Woodside and Mr Barrnett. This fragile area is the proposed site for the worlds biggest gas processing plant….. Back off Barnett, …. Hands Off Country.
